MCV Tradition and Innovation Appeal
A Year in Review
Each week, MCV members—volunteers from all walks of life—participated in rigorous rehearsals, honing time-honored pieces and building a thoughtful repertoire to bring vitality to this ancient art form. What unites our members is a dedication to elevating fifing and drumming and enriching the communities where we perform.
In 2024, MCV performed at 26 community events, including parades, concerts, musters, and historical celebrations, reaching many thousands. Also in 2024, MCV accepted the invitation of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo and performed 6 times to crowds of over 8,000 per show. We relaunched our annual Fife and Drum workshop in March, which fostered connections among the fife and drum community and introduced new participants to fifing and drumming.
The Need
2025 marks the start of a two-year celebration to commemorate the Revolution that set the course for our nation. Our performances are in high demand, as we join with others to celebrate 250 years of innovation and independence. This includes “Massachusetts 250” events in Boston, Concord, Lexington and Newburyport, as well as a trip to Colonial Williamsburg to participate in Drummers Call weekend. To capitalize on the increased attention that the 250th will bring, we are dedicating resources to outreach and education, including a daylong workshop to sustain the art of fifing and drumming.

MCV is a registered federal 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, and we support our activities strictly through grants, donations, and performance fees.
Checks must be postmarked by December 31, 2024 to be counted in our 2024 Appeal.
Online donations made after 12/31/2024 will be put towards our 2025 annual fundraising appeal.
